A collection of studies by Haim Tadmor (1923-2005), who was professor of Assyriology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a leading historian of ancient Mesopotamia and Israel. Among the topics: the rhetorical and historiographical features of the Neo-Assyrian royal inscriptions; the organization of temple cities and royal cities in Assyria and Babylon; the influence of the Mesopotamian empires on the West and in particular, the kingdoms of Israel and Judah and the cities of Philistia.
