Final ReportFrom 1969 to 1982, extensive archaeological excavations were conducted in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem under the direction of the late Professor Nahman Avigad. During these excavations remains dating from the Iron Age through the Ottoman period were uncovered. These include impressive fortifications, domestic dwellings from the Iron Age II and Early Roman period, the Byzantine Cardo and Nea Church and a wealth of small finds from all periods.
