This volume is the final report of research on the architecture of private dwellings from the Hellenistic Period in the city at Mount Gerizim.
The excavations and the research on Mount Gerizim began a quarter of a century ago and continues to the present day.
The book describes more than thirty-five buildings that were excavated on the mount.
It is divided into eight chapters - six describe the architecture of the buildings, and the remaining two are the introduction and the summary.
The buildings on Mount Gerizim, both private and public all follow the same plan.
All of them were built using the same type of local stone and plastered with the same type of whitewash. A similar design was used for the thresholds and doorposts, for the roofing of the ceiling with wood, for the second story floors, and for the shape of the baths. It is possible that the builders and the architects who took part in the construction of the city and the temple at Mount Gerizim were Samaritans originating from Greece.
